We are pleased to announce the launch of Learning Centre Scotland, a new training centre located in our Glasgow office, where we will be offering a range of HIV and sexual health related training.
All of our courses are led by knowledgeable and experienced trainers.
They are accessible and affordably priced for those wishing to increase their knowledge and skills.
Our courses take place at Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland, Breckenridge House, 274 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3EH. Our bright, spacious facility is fully accessible.
Arrangements may be made to deliver training in other locations for group bookings.
Currently we are offering:
HIV Awareness Training
This course will help you learn how to prevent HIV transmissions, support people living with or at risk to HIV, and increase your confidence in speaking to others about the issues. This is a CPD certified course.

Women and HIV
This half-day course will help you understand and respond to the particular needs of those women who are most at risk of HIV infection and ways to support high-risk groups. This course also includes advice on how to support women who are formula feeding due to their HIV status.
This course is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.

Sexual Health and Dementia
This course aims to empower service providers, practitioners and carers to navigate some of the complex situations that may arise when addressing the sexual health needs of people living with HIV and/or dementia. This course is a joint partnership between Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland and Alzheimer Scotland.

Hepatitis C 101
In this half-day course you will learn about the basics of Hepatitis C including prevention, testing, treatment, and how to support at-risk populations.
This is a CPD certified course.

Getting it right: Sexual health and relationships education for parents and carers
This full-day course will develop your confidence in speaking to young people about sexual health.

Stigma, Disclosure and Discrimination
A half-day interactive skills-building workshop for professionals to improve your ability to advocate for people with living with blood-borne viruses.
Date to be determined.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

Sexual Health After 50
As many people are now remaining sexually active later in life, there has been a sharp rise in the instances of Sexually Transmitted Infections amongst older people. This course will examine the changing sexual landscape of the 50+ generations and explore how to reach them. Practitioners, service providers, and older adults are welcome to attend.

SQA Accredited Courses
Learning Centre Scotland is pleased to offer two new accredited courses in HIV and Sexual Health Training. Both courses have been accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and are Professional Development Awards (PDAs) at SCQF level 7.
Sexual Health Training
The PDA in Sexual Health Training at SCQF level 7 is ideal for anyone who delivers Sexual Health Training. It is comprised of two units:
Unit 1 (on 7 March) involved a one full day of training and completion of a take-home assignment. Unit 2 will involve a presentation to the group and an opportunity for peer feedback.
Unit 2: Sexual Health Training – Experiential Learning (Tuesday 28 March)
The PDA in HIV at SCQF level 7 is ideal for anyone who works in healthcare, social care, sexual health, or HIV. The course is also relevant to anyone who supports at-risk populations or high prevalence communities.
This course is comprised of two units. Each unit will involve one full day of training and the completion of a take-home assignment.
Unit one: HIV - An Introduction (Wednesday 5 April)
Unit two: HIV – Treatment & Lifestyle Management (Wednesday 26 April)
