Why you might need this

If you think you have been at risk of being exposed to a sexually transmitted infection (STI) and you want to find out as soon as possible then this service is for you. You can have an STI and not have any obvious signs or symptoms, so you may have an STI without realising that you have - and potentially transmitting it to sexual partners.

You may however have symptoms - or you may be worried that you may have contracted an STI recently - or some time ago and you are keen to have it treated and not wanting to pass it onto someone else. The self-taken chlamydia and gonorrhoea results are delivered by text message to your mobile, usually within two to three weeks. On receiving your results, you may want to be able to talk to somebody in confidence and there will always be a team member available to answer any questions that you may have or explain things in greater detail during the office’s opening times.

All appointments are free, strictly private and confidential and offered on a first come first served basis.

We can help you

You can be tested for a range of STIs and blood borne viruses including HIV, syphilis and chlamydia, gonorrhoea.

Most STIs are easily treated and you can get the information and support you need. You will get your HIV and syphilis results in less than 15 minutes. The self-taken chlamydia and gonorrhoea results are delivered by text message to your mobile, usually within two to three weeks.

STI testing is offered on a 'first come, first served' basis so there's no need to book an appointment, however it's best to arrive at least 30 minutes before the advertised clinic closing time, so as to allow for adequate time and provision for testing, delivering any results and information and/or resources to be given - and also to ensure that you can be seen that day.

The process is quick and easy for those who wish to test only for chlamydia and gonorrhoea, using self-taken samples. If the self-taken samples are performed correctly, you should be in and out the office in no more than 5-10 minutes. Detailed information on how to take the samples yourself will be explained upon arrival.

For those wanting to test for HIV and syphilis as well as chlamydia and gonorrhoea, the entire process should take no more than approximately 30-45 minutes, although this can vary due to an individual’s needs and requirements.
