Our sexual health services

Woman and nurse

It might be hard to get to a GUM clinic when it's open - so we run our own drop-in clinics local to you and at convenient times.

What we provide:

  1. HIV and STI testing services
  2. contraceptive clinics in community settings around England, Wales, and Scotland
  3. services that are open in the evenings and on weekends
  4. services tailored to suit the varied needs of the local communities that we serve.

HIV testing

The only way to be certain about whether you have HIV is to have an HIV test.

Terrence Higgins Trust provides HIV testing at many of our local offices and in community settings as well. You will get your HIV test result within an hour.

All our services have links with the local sexual health/GUM clinic in the event of a positive result.

STI testing

Screening for sexually transmitted infections is quick and easy and we offer this service alongside many of our HIV testing clinics.

Most sexually transmitted infections can be easily treated and you will get your results within a few days. Terrence Higgins Trust can provide treatment for many STIs.

We have clinics all around the England, Wales, and Scotland. The clinics offer a number of tests, including tests for:

  • gonorrhoea
  • chlamydia
  • syphilis
  • hepatitis
  • HIV
  • full sexual health screening

Contraception and family planning clinics

As well as testing for HIV and STIs, some of our clinics offer a range of contraceptives including:

  • the pill
  • emergency contraception
  • contraceptive injections
  • implants and coils
  • condoms

Pregnancy testing is also provided.

All our services are free and confidential. Some of clinics are ran in partnership with the local NHS sexual health clinic.

Chlamydia Screening

We also provide chlamydia screening in a number of places across England for people under 25 years old. These are offered as part of the National Chlamydia Screening Programme for England.
