On 15 March the annual CHAPS Conference took place in Bristol. It was one of the best yet with excellent sessions, provocative speakers and great networking opportunities. One of the most popular sessions focused on how gay men had responded to the question: ‘What is your idea of the best sex life?’

These responses were followed by a very interesting discussion on how health promotion should change to meet the needs of men’s sexual expectations, while continuing to promote HIV prevention.

Our lead article looks at what came out of that session, entitled ‘Bad Romance: Can Sexual Health Promotion Ever Deliver What Gay Men Really Want?’, with recommendations for future work.

In a time of great change for national gay men’s health promotion, we also celebrate what CHAPS has achieved over the past 15 years and consider what could possibly happen next.

Times are also changing in our work with LGBT young people. Mark Paterson, from London’s Metro Centre, talks about how they are continuing to provide essential services in a changing political and economical environment.
