SWISH Coventry was established in 1999. There had been a beat area in Coventry for over 40 years, but no direct services for sex workers.
Growing from a few volunteers driving round in cars handing out condoms, SWISH has developed. We now have purpose built vehicleand our fantastic volunteers have been joined by paid staff. We can also support those in the sex trade who work from indoor venues and lone workers.
SWISH on wheels
As well as going to massage parlours and flats and working from our office we also operate from our mobile unit. You can find the SWISH purpose-built bus on Napier Street, Hillfields on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7.30pm & 9.30pm. You can access hot drinks, snacks, condoms and supplies, a needle exchange, as well as our other services.
How we can help you
SWISH offer an holistic and confidential service to those working in the sex industry both on and off street and can support with:
- Blood tests for HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis B & C
- Screening for gonorrhoea, chlamydia, bacterial vaginosis, warts and thrush
- Fast tracking to local clinics for those with symptoms
- Hepatitis B vaccination
- HIV prevention by safer sex resources such as free condoms and lube
- Advice on how to work legally and safely
- Access to the Court Diversion Scheme
- Fast and free access to our counsellors
- Fast tracking to report violent incidents (Gallop/ugly mugs) and hate crimes
- Confidential one-to-one support and advice around housing, substance and alcohol misuse, legal issues, immigration, education and employment
- Educational workshops
- Needle exchange
- Advice and information on safer drug use and support into treatment
Our clinic runs in the Coventry office on Thursdays 10.00 am – 4.00pm. We offer appointments, or you can just drop-in.
