Giving from your salary

Payroll giving

Many people choose to give to us via a payroll giving scheme, which allows you to donate to charity directly through your salary payments before tax is deducted.

As well as being an easy and simple way for you to support us, it also makes your gift worth more. In fact, payroll giving, also known as Give As You Earn (GAYE), is the only way that your donation to us can automatically be increased by 45 per cent.

By giving to us regularly from your pay, we automatically receive the tax you would have paid on your donation (your payroll department arrange this for us). We do not need to claim Gift Aid back on this, so there is less administration for us.

A regular gift like this helps us to plan our services into the future, to ensure that we will always be there for people whose lives have been affected by HIV.

Payroll giving is also the only way for anyone paying 40 per cent or 45 per cent tax to automatically give us all their tax on a donation, so if you earn over £42,385 per year this is the best way for you to support us tax effectively. Some examples are below:

*Please note that we have calculated that the 40 per cent higher rate tax band starts after earning £42,385 GROSS per year (including personal allowance of £10,600) and 45 per cent super tax is applicable to those earning over £150,000 GROSS per year (this includes any and all personal allowances that might or might not be applicable).

To give to us in this way, your employer will need to operate a scheme - if you are not sure that they do, fill in the form anyway. We will let you know whether they do and if they do not we can suggest to them that they introduce one.

You can set up Payroll Giving quickly and easily online. Please start giving now, or call Payroll Giving in Action on 01271 344360.

Thank you.
