About the fund

The Mags Portman PrEP Access Fund (PAF) was set up to support people in England and Northern Ireland who need PrEP but are not able to access it on the NHS and cannot afford to buy it for themselves.
Currently, the PAF is open to people who can provide evidence that they are on no or very low income – i.e. on benefits, not working or who have no access to public funds.

In order for us to accept your application, you will need to provide evidence of low or no income, confirm you have recently had a negative HIV test and that you will attend a sexual health service for regular STI testing and monitoring of kidney function.

Your application is subject to the terms and conditions on this page. We may change these terms and conditions from time to time by updating this page.

Terrence Higgins Trust is the Data Controller for the purpose of running this website and the PrEP Access Fund.

If you provide us with your clinic number for the sexual health service you are attending, we will share this with Public Health England. This is to enable us to evaluate the service and to support our campaigning for PrEP to be available on the NHS for all those who need it. This information is anonymous and contains nothing that will identify you as an individual.

You have the right, at any time, to see the data that we hold on you and the right to request that we delete it.

We will only retain the information from your application for the length of this service, after which it will be deleted. This is to enable us to deliver and evaluate the service.

For more information on how we use your data, please read our privacy policy.

Application process

You may only apply to the PrEP Access Fund for yourself.

We are not entering into a contract with you and reserve the right to decline your application if you do not meet the eligibility criteria for the fund.

You will need to upload evidence to our website to demonstrate you have low or no income.
If your application is accepted we will email you confirming this and send you a text message with a unique code that can be used to purchase a three-month supply of PrEP.

Once accepted on the fund you will need to confirm via the website every three months that you wish to order a further supply of PrEP. We will send you reminders to do this by email. If you don't confirm that you wish to order a further supply of PrEP, your PrEP Access Fund membership will be closed. You may reapply after this but acceptance will be dependant on your continued financial eligibility and availability of places on the fund.

We may also use your email address to contact you to ask about your experience of the service. This is a core part of the service and by applying to the PrEP Access Fund you agree to be contacted in this way.
