Terrence Higgins Trust is the leading and largest HIV and sexual health charity in the UK.

The Board of Trustees

Elected by the Members of THT, the Board steers the charity towards acheiving our aims - you can find out more about them here.

Boards and comittees

Trustees are elected for 3 years to the board at our AGM and, subject to re-election, serve for a maximum 6 year term.

The trustees meet 4 times a year as a board. In addition to this the boards work is supported by a number of subcommittees.

Currently our subcomittees are:

  • The Board development committee - oversees the development of strategy, organisational development and governance.
  • The Audit committee - responsible for appointing the external auditors, reviewing THT’s accounts and financial controls, and reviewing the Trust’s statements and actions on risk and internal controls.
  • The Board Shortlisting Committee - which identifies which of the applicants who apply to become candidates for Board election meet the requirements of the Trustee specification.
  • The Remuneration committee - responsible for setting the pay and conditions of staff employed by the charity.
  • The Clinical practice and governance committee - which oversees any clinical services provided by the charity.

The membership of these committees is drawn from Trustees, Executive Directors and lay members. Lay members are often specialists who possess a particular expertise relevant to the work of the committee.
