Ian Green is Terrence Higgins Trust’s Chief Executive and joined the charity in March 2016.
He has more than 25 years experience of high profile leadership, having held strategic roles in local government, health, housing and social care, as well as non-executive roles in the NHS. Ian was also involved in YMCA for over 25 years, including five years as Chief Executive of YMCA England.
For over 20 years Ian held a number of positions of public office in the London Borough of Ealing, as an elected member of the Council, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services and Housing and as Mayor. For five years Ian was Chair of Ealing Hospital NHS Trust and was until recently a member of the board of West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
Ian’s background means he is familiar with the issues and challenges facing the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, ensuring that we continue to provide high quality prevention and support services despite reductions in funding. His passion is that Terrence Higgins Trust continues to draw on its wealth of experience to provide invaluable services that promote good sexual health, help people live well with HIV and prevent the transmission of the virus.
Diagnosed with HIV almost 20 years ago, Ian has first hand experience of using the services provided by Terrence Higgins Trust and understands the need to access high quality HIV and sexual health services as well as stopping the stigma of living with this long term health condition. He lives in Hampshire with his husband Paul and two rather wayward Labradors.
