Order a free HIV self test kit
We offer free HIV self test kits to people within Brighton and Hove from groups most affected by HIV.
We normally charge £15 for the tests. Providing you live in the qualifying area, you won't be asked for payment at checkout.
If you aren't eligible for a test from this service, you can search for other free online HIV testing options.
Virtual HIV testing clinic
If you're from Brighton and Hove and would like confidential support from one of our clinical staff in carrying out your HIV self test, have any questions or need professional advice around your sexual health, you can now access our virtual clinic via video call.
This process simulates our face-to-face clinic.

Order free condoms by post
You can order free condoms if you live within selected postcodes in the Brighton and Hove area.
To be eligible for this service, you must be 18 or over.
HIV testing
Our HIV testing is temporarily suspended due to lockdown.
We offer rapid finger-prick tests for HIV, with results available in 20 minutes.
These tests are available via booked appoinment only for anyone from the LGBTQ+, Black African and BME communities, and sex workers. Please telephone 01273 764200 or 07741 322 487 to make an appointment.
Appointments are available during our opening times and are available up to two weeks in advance or same day subject to availability. The office has been assessed as COVID-19 secure and you'll be asked to adhere to our infection control measures; these include wearing a mask or face covering at all times. A member of the team will talk to you about this when you book your appointment.
We also offer HIV tests at various locations in the community.
STI testing
Our STI testing is temporarily suspended due to lockdown.
We can test for the following sexually transmitted infections (STIs):
- chlamydia (results in two weeks)
- gonorrhoea (results in two weeks)
- syphilis (results in 20 minutes)
These tests are available via booked appoinment only for anyone from the LGBTQ+, Black African and BME communities, and sex workers. Please telephone 01273 764200 or 07741 322 487 to make an appointment.

We also test on an outreach basis in the community.
Support
For people living with HIV, we offer:
- information for newly diagnosed people
- counselling
- access to a hardship fund
- support getting back to work
- benefits advice
- advice on telling people about your HIV status
- 1-2-1 needs-led support for a range of social care issues.
Training
We run HIV awareness training sessions for voluntary sector professionals and volunteers, health and social workers, and members of the public.
We also offer work with male and female sex workers, and provide training around chemsex.

We also offer benefits advice over the telephone between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, Tuesday to Thursday. Please call our main Brighton number for this service.

We supply free condoms and lube on a walk-in basis.
If English is not your first language we can usually still offer you support via an interpretation service.
