White T-shirt with 'La' black text on hanger
Text

Mayor of Lambeth and clothing design extraordinaire Philip Normal raised over £20,000 for our charity in just 24 hours with his T-shirt inspired by It's a Sin.

Known for his LGBTQ+ culture designs, Philip created the T-shirt in collaboration with us to honour the residents of the Pink Palace, who feature in Russell T Davies's new Channel 4 series about the AIDS epidemic set in the 1980s and 1990s.

A donation of £20 from each sale goes directly to us to support the lives of people living with HIV today, with the shirt already finding fans in It’s A Sin cast members Keeley Hawes (who plays Valerie Tozer) and Callum Scott Howells (who plays Colin Morris-Jones), as well as celebrities Michelle Visage and Russell Tovey.

'La', an inside joke between the characters, 'encapsulated the love and mutual support' everyone has in their cliques and friendship groups, Philip told Pink News.

'For me, this simple use of language underpins the vulnerability of all the characters and solidifies their friendship, it’s incredibly powerful.'

Donations from the T-shirt will back us in our mission to support and empower people living with HIV in the UK, end the stigma and discrimination they face, and contribute to our work towards ending HIV transmission in the UK once and for all.
