Our complementary therapies (massage, hypnotherapy, reiki, osteopathy, reflexology) are temporarily suspended.
Counselling and emotional support
In order to best meet the needs of our service users at this challenging time, our counselling and emotional support is being prioritised for service users who are aged 18 and over living with HIV.
Online counselling and emotional support can help with the same range of problems as traditional face-to-face counselling, with the convenience of accessing the service from home.
Our online counselling is mainly delivered via video call. If you don’t have access to a webcam, or you feel more comfortable not using one, we can also offer counselling by phone or web chat.
Our counsellors and practitioners can provide support to individuals and couples with a range of personal and interpersonal issues such as:
- feelings of isolation, feeling stuck or being unable to cope,
- low mood or difficult emotions,
- dealing with an HIV diagnosis and other issues around HIV,
- low self-esteem,
- concerns about sex and relationships,
- struggling with the use of substances or chemsex,
- concerns around employment and work, bullying or discrimination,
- family problems,
- sexuality and coming out,
- psychosexual issues (low sexual desire, mismatched libido, performance anxiety, among other concerns).
Whether you need to talk to someone just once or would prefer a time-limited number of sessions, our counsellors and practitioners can support you to improve your well-being and find ways to enjoy a more fulfilling life.
All of our therapists and practitioners are fully qualified or in advanced stages of training. All of our talking therapies follow the new BACP Ethical Framework.
How to register
You'll need to register an account on our website.
Once registered, you can apply for online counselling from your dashboard. You’ll be asked a few questions about yourself and how you’re feeling.
A counsellor will review your application and get in touch with you. If you're accepted, we may ask you some further assessment questions, based on the responses you gave when you initially applied. We’ll focus on what’s going on with you and what approach might work best. You can let us know if you prefer to see a counsellor of a particular gender.
If we can help, we’ll then arrange your first online session.

Due to high demand, there may be a waiting list. If you feel you need to talk to someone right away, the NHS mental health helpline page has a list of organisations you can call for immediate support.

Samaritans operates a free service 24 hours a day for people who want to talk in confidence. Call them on 116 123 or visit the Samaritans website.
We rely on funders and volunteers to keep our therapies services running. However, voluntary donations are very welcome, helping us support more people who are least able to pay.
You can contribute as little or as much as you can afford. If you want to make a donation, you can make a one-off gift online now, or set up a regular Direct Debit.
What you share with your counsellor or practioner is confidential. We will only ever tell other people what you've told us if you're at serious risk of hurting yourself, hurting others, or if we are legally required to. If this is the case, your counsellor or practioner will endeavor to talk this through with you first.
The information we collect
We use the data you provide specifically to deliver the service. The data we hold is kept for 12 months from the end of your counselling, then securely archived for a further five years in accordance with legal requirements and our policy.
