So how do you go about fundraising? Don’t worry – it’s easier than you’d think!

Start collecting donations

Text

Set up a JustGiving fundraising page – it takes just a few minutes. Your supporters can donate securely online and their donations and Gift Aid come straight to us, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Great reasons for using JustGiving:

  • Easy to set up and manage.
  • Completely secure.
  • Easy to share on social media.

If someone doesn’t donate the first time you ask, try again! Often people have just forgotten and need a prompt, so don’t be shy to send out regular reminders. Pay day is always a good time to ask!

Set up a JustGiving team

Text

JustGiving Team Pages allow you and your friends to join your individual JustGiving fundraising pages together to contribute to an overall total.

A team page is great if you want to raise money separately whilst still contributing to a larger team goal. Set everyone a minimum fundraising target or aim to raise a total amount for your walk.

A team page will list everyone’s individual page, as well as the charity you’re raising money for and the collective total you’ve raised together.

If you need any support with setting up your JustGiving page, just get in touch on [email protected].

Use Facebook fundraising

Text

A quick and simple way to raise some extra money is to set up a Facebook fundraiser and select Terrence Higgins Trust. It takes less than a minute to create.

Gift Aid

Text

Every gift you make to us – whatever its value – could be worth more at no extra cost to you just by choosing to Gift Aid it. We receive an extra 25p for every £1 you donate.

Matched Giving

Text

Lots of companies run match giving schemes, which double the amount of money you raise. Check whether your employer offers match giving and if not, ask if they would like to support your fundraising by making a donation.

Hold a raffle

Text

On the day you could hold a raffle at the end or start of your walk. Local businesses are often happy to donate a prize.

For simple raffles all you need to remember is to charge a standard price for each ticket and to draw the name of the winner before your walk day is over.

If your raffle lasts longer than 24 hours you will need a lottery licence and printed tickets, which must have certain details on them. More information is available at the Gambling Commission.

Celebrate your fundraising

Text
  • Highlight fundraising milestones, especially when you’re close to hitting your target.
  • Recognise and thank your donors – make sure you thank and tag them in your social media posts.
