HIV Clinics

If you are living with HIV or Hepatitis in Lanarkshire your treatment will usually be arranged through the BBV Service at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie. To make an appointment with the Monklands BBV centre please call 01698 752 444.

For some residents, especially those in South Lanarkshire who rely on public transport, it may be more convenient for you to receive BBV treatment from the Brownlee Centre at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow. To make an appointment with the Brownlee Centre please call 0141 211 1074.

HIV home testing

If you live in Scotland, you can order a free HIV self-test online that will give you accurate results in under 20 minutes in the comfort of your own home or somewhere else that is safe and private. THT will send these tests by post straight to your chosen address, and they will arrive in discreet packaging for you to use when convenient for you.

They work in a similar way to pregnancy or covid-19 tests, and you can choose between a test that swabs your gums or one that uses a couple of drops of blood from a simple finger prick test.

Support for People Living with HIV

Here at Terrence Higgins Trust, we do our best to support people living with HIV to live well. We have guides available on topics ranging from mental health and wellbeing to your legal rights to make sure that you have the information you need to live well with HIV.

  • THT offer counselling services at a cost to anybody who needs them, but for people living with HIV the cost of these counselling sessions is modified based on annual income. People living with HIV who are on a low income can benefit from up to twelve free sessions per year.
  • My Community is an online social space for anybody in the UK living with HIV. Members of My Community can share their personal experiences of living with HIV and find community and peer support. While living with HIV is what connects all users of My Community, members can connect across a much broader range of interests.
  • THT Direct helpline is available weekdays from 10am to 6pm to provide emotional support and answer your questions about living with HIV, your worries around sexual health, or accessing relevant services across the UK. You can call THT Direct on 0808 202 1221 or for other ways to contact us.
